history

It was decided to build a state-of-the-art Senior Residence on beautiful acreage on Parsonage Road in Greenwich at the site of an ancient Almshouse, and to retain the name of that historic building ... Parsonage Cottage.

The organizational structure developed to assure the necessary funds to construct and operate the new Parsonage Cottage was a classic public/private partnership that utilized tax credits, block grants and monies from both the Town of Greenwich and its residents. Over $4,400,000 was raised. Construction was begun in late 1995 and completed in early 1997. The 40-resident facility opened that April.

Parsonage Cottage Home for the Aged, Inc. is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) corporation formed to provide continuing support for programs that benefit the welfare of residents. The entity is run by a Fund Raising Board of dedicated citizens that raises monies annually to finance ongoing support activities. The Housing Authority of the Town of Greenwich acts as Managing Agent and supplies needed administrative functions.
